গণিত ও যুক্তিবিদ্যায় বাক্যের একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ধারণা হলো খোলা বাক্য। অনেক সময় এমন বাক্যের মুখোমুখি হতে হয়, যেগুলো পড়লে মনে হয় সম্পূর্ণ, কিন্তু আসলে সেগুলোর সত্যতা বা মিথ্যাতা নির্দিষ্ট করে বলা যায় না। এই প্রেক্ষিতেই প্রশ্ন আসে—খোলা বাক্য কাকে বলে? সহজ ভাষায় বলতে গেলে, যে বাক্যে এক বা একাধিক চলক থাকে এবং সেই চলকের মান নির্ধারণ না করা পর্যন্ত বাক্যটি সত্য না মিথ্যা তা বলা যায় না, তাকে খোলা বাক্য বলা হয়।
খোলা বাক্যের প্রধান বৈশিষ্ট্য হলো চলকের উপস্থিতি। চলক সাধারণত x, y, z ইত্যাদি অক্ষরের মাধ্যমে প্রকাশ করা হয়, যার মান পরিবর্তনশীল। উদাহরণস্বরূপ, “x + 3 = 7” একটি খোলা বাক্য। এখানে x-এর মান যদি 4 হয়, তাহলে বাক্যটি সত্য হবে, আর যদি অন্য কোনো মান হয়, তাহলে বাক্যটি মিথ্যা হতে পারে।
