Dordle keeps the same simple mechanics that made Wordle so appealing. Players guess a five-letter word and receive instant feedback. Correct letters placed in the correct position appear in green, letters that belong in the word but are in the wrong position appear in yellow, and letters that do not belong in the word appear in gray. Using this feedback, players gradually narrow down the possible solutions. The key difference is that Dordle asks players to solve two hidden words instead of one. Two puzzle boards appear side by side, and every guess is applied to both boards simultaneously. Players usually have seven guesses to discover both words. At first glance, this might not sound dramatically harder, but the shared-guess system quickly changes the way players must think about their strategy.
